My laptop truly died. I hoped I was exaggerating, but, alas, it is dead. Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 2PM. Now time for random China information.
- Staring - Chinese people stare at foreigners. Not just a little glance, but full out, "I see the spinach between your teeth staring." If you're insecure, this can be a dark place for you. However, as I am not, I just stare back and smile. In my mind, they're staring at me because I'm really cool and they like me. It is a problem however, that I tend to stare at foreigners now.
- Pigeon - Apparently the "truly Cantonese" dish happens to be fried pigeon. (pigeon = rat with wings). I had the pleasure of trying this on Sunday night. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the real Chinese food as opposed to the Americanized version that I love. Therefore, I ate Subway yesterday and it was delicious.
- Sleeping - I haven't really become adjusted to the time difference. I wake up during the middle of the night and my mind tells me that it's the middle of the afternoon. I have to make myself go back to sleep in order to be able to function the next day.
- Pick-pocketing - I think I almost got pick-pocketed yesterday when I was in the Metro. This guy comes up to me and starts talking to me in English saying that he wants to be friends with foreigners. I, always the skeptic, told him that it was kind of weird. I took his business card and told him that if I ever needed a friend, I would call him. As I was leaving, I felt someone brush past me. I look over and he and another fellow were talking and looking at me. I'm pretty sure he was trying to distract while the other got in my bag. OH NO HE DIDN'T. I keep a tight leash on that thing.
